Throughout history, women have been applauded more for their silence than for their noise. Submission, obedience, and cooperation are praised and expected. Speaking up and crossing boundaries is seen as being “too much.”

As children, we’ve been conditioned to follow this approach. Be nice, and everyone will be your friend. Be nice, and the teacher will like you. Be nice, and you’ll get a gold star.

But what if life was more than just being a slave for a gold star?
